Gucci’s art-deco-inspired Spring 2012 collection was a celeb favourite, and in this WWIB, we have four different ladies who chose the same fringed frock.
Frida Giannini, Gucci’s creative director, donned the dress back in September 2011 for the opening of the Gucci Museum in Florence, just days after the look was first shown during Milan Fashion Week. Frida appeared in a sleeved version of the runway look. Gucci ‘Ophelie’ suede chain T-strap sandals completed the look.
At the LACMA Inaugural Art & Film Gala, held in LA back in November, Evan Rachel Wood played up the 1920s flapper vibe of the dress with smoky-eye makeup and a finger-wave hairdo. Drop earrings and Gucci t-strap heels completed the look.
Spanish television personality Raquel Sanchez Silva wore the same dress to the ‘Tp De Oro’ Awards 2012, held in Madrid back in February. With a sleek ponytail and smoky eye makeup, Raquel’s styling from the neck up is pitch perfect. Unfortunately, a clunky clutch and dowdy shoes are a major letdown.
On Monday, we saw Korean pop singer BoA bring back the popular look at the Gucci reopening of their Seoul flagship store event, held in Seoul. She let the dress do all the talking, opting to accessorize with just a light gold clutch and the t-strap Gucci heels. It’s interesting how nearly everyone here wore the Gucci t-strap shoes.
Evan Rachel Wood wins for me for committing to the theme of the look by channelling her inner flapper girl right down to the marcel waves.
Back in December 2011, actress Rebecca Hall wore a black YSL jumpsuit, accentuated with a metallic red flower belt, to the Moet British Independent Film Awards in London.
Rebecca paired the strapless look with a tailored black blazer for some extra coverage against the chilly London weather, but kept her accessories simple with black pumps and a black clutch.
A sleek bun and glossy lips were the finishing touch.
Surprising us all, and earning herself a place in the BDOTW poll, Emma Roberts was among the best dressed at the Metropolitan Opera Gala Premiere of Jules Massenet’s ‘Manon’ in New York City, held at the end of March, wearing the same jumpsuit.
She looked glamorous, accessorizing her look with a black YSL clutch and black satin YSL pumps.
Side-parted hair and winged eyeliner completed the look.
While both look great, I prefer the look sans blazer so Emma wins for me.
But check out other celebrities and tell us who wore it better for you?
