D.E.E.V.A.S. REVIEW: Top 'Must Download' Naija Songs of the Moment

Been on a social hiatus and been missing all the latest jams? Or you looking for some good Naija songs to listen to and don't know the right songs to download? You should check out this list because I got it all locked down as usual.

1.STAY WITH ME-MAI ATAFO ft WAJE AND PRAiZ
A fantastic idea conceived by Top designer, Mai Atafo with Waje, the lioness of African R&B and X3M signee and fantastic singer Praiz, it was no damn mistake. When I heard this song I was like damn, I feel like getting married. Its a song that gives every perception that love and marriage are beautiful things! This song expressed the true feelings of a bride and groom infusing emotion and vows in its rendition. It is a true wedding song and definitely one of utmost quality in all aspects! So if you are getting married soon, or hope too and havent found your wedding song yet. You should listen and download this.

2. SHUT IT DOWN-AJAY ft SARKODIE
-Well, this song gives me mixed feelings because it's like a mixture of water and fuel. Sarkodie being a fantastic and well know rapper killed it but I had no idea what Ajay was doing on that track. The little chorus Ajay did was not impressive and he doesn't even have a good voice. Sarkodie did well but I don't think he could save this song. I was very disappointed that Sarkodie agreed to be on this track because its a super thumbs down, not good at all.

3. L.I.O.N(Like it Or Not)-SPLASH
-As usual, my sister,Splash in the Igbo Girl Movement(IGM) did not disappoint! Hold on, no tribalistic judgement involved but damn she's the female phyno. The way she raps is different and she flows in igbo real good! Her punchlines and metaphors are fantastic and impressive. This August Pee Queen right from her recent single "Church Agbasa" impressed me and I'm sure I will put her on one of my tracks someday. Putting YQ on the track too was a good move because he also did a good job on the track. Thumbs up to Splash, YQ, Hman(a man I admire a lot since the days of 'Ndoli Ndoli) and the whole August Pee team.

4.MONEY WHISPERS-BEAZY FT PHEROWSHUZ
-This is a lovely jam I love so much! The minute I heard Over and Over, I knew he would blow! Now he and another nigga of mine Pherowshuz hit us with this new one called Money Whispers! This song talks about the fact that he really wants to make the music that his heart beats but we gotta pay bills as artistes so he's singing what's gonna rake in the big bucks! Money keeps pulling him away from the music he wants to make so we shouldn't get mad if we think he sounds dumb! Nice one there Beazy and Pherowshuz!

5. IJO-DGATES ft OREZI
-D Gates is gradually warming his way into our hearts but in my opinion, I feel he could have done better. It was quite a jam and put Mr Booty bounce and newly signed HKN Gang member, Orezi was not a bad move either, even the beat is pretty contagious. I mean, who doesn't love a song they can dance to when they feel like it! Nice one, D Gates!

6. ONE OF A KIND-DAVIDO
-Davido the HKN flag bearer is at it again! Teaming with Shizzi as usual he did justice to this beautiful song. He talks about this girl he met(Is it always about a girl he met/meets though). He tries to let her know that he prefers her to any other girl. He sings so beautifully infusing that playful and lovely melody that every girl will love to hear. "Hello My name is Davido, Where are you from I wanna know" Simply beautiful and catchy!

7. AURA - FEFE
-From the label that brought us the swagged out fast-spitting AT, here’s Fefe with “Aura”

Aura of destiny! Fefe killed it on this one! Her beautiful voice can give her audience sweet dreams."I dey feel ur Aura guy..."*Fefe Voice*. Beautiful ensemble.
She talks about the man of her dreams and how he fascinates her. She talks about how handsome, beautiful, sexy and amazing he is. As usual Dj Klem did justice to this beat and made the song lovely! Thumbs up Dj Klem and Fefe.

8. KIGBE-MAYD FT KAYSWITCH n OLAMIDE
-On this track we have the CEO of Confam Records and the original sure boy, May D alongside DB records signee and brother to the Kokomaster Dbanj, Kayswitch and the baddo himself aka Leader of the YBNL Natio, Olamide! This track has an interesting and catchy tune.
Kayswitch was slightly weak on this one but it still came out good and of course my Baddo did not disappoint me, he killed it! It is a good track altogether, trust me.

9. KOLO FOR YOU REMIX - RETTA RICH ft EVA, CASEY ED and PHYNO
-This song caught my attention I tell you. Retta is one hell of a talent! Her style of music is so different. The beats she uses, the way she sings so distinct and I admire her a lot.
Eva added her usual amazing feel to it changing up the tempo and Phyno sang a little bit before killing us with his romantic rhymes. Casey Ed also did justice to the song. Beautiful piece altogether!

10. OTIYA-TOSIN MARTINS ft VECTOR
-Long time Tosin Martins! Well, he's back with this banger to thank God for blessing him and making him all he has become. And he puts Vector on this track to also kill it as well. He thanks God and praises God for what he has done for him. The track has good, happy feel that helps us appreciate God for what he's being doing for us. Its a nice one.

MUST WATCH VIDEO: 'We Should All Be Feminists' by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie

From the novel, Purple Hibiscus to Half of a Yellow Sun coming to theatre soon, Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie has come to be one of the most influential young Nigerian women after maintaining a lifestyle worthy of praises and honour by Nigerians and the world in general.

In this video she speaks of her experience of being made to feel inferior to men, as a child, as an adolescent and as a woman. She says, ‘This is how we start; we must raise our daughters differently, we must also raise our sons differently. We do a great disservice to boys in how we raise them. We stifle the humanity of boys. We define masculinity in a very narrow way. Masculinity becomes this hard small cage, and we put boys inside the cage. We teach boys to be afraid of fear, we teach boys to be afraid of weakness, of vulnerability. we teach them to mask their true selves because they have to be (Nigeria speak) HARD MAN!’

On men being intimidated by our desire to fight for our rights, further our education she says: ’a man who is intimidated by me is exactly the kind of man that I would have no interest in!’

On girl education she says: We teach girls shame. Close your legs! Cover yourself! We make them feel as though by being born female they are already guilty of something. And so girls grow up to be women who cannot say they have desire, they grow up to be women who silence themselves, they grow up to be women who cannot say what they truly think. And they grow up … and this is the worst thing we do to girls, they grow up to be women who have turned pretense into an art form.

CLICK AND WATCH WITH YOUR EARS, EYES AND ALL SENSES OPEN, SHE SPEAKS WORDS OF WISDOM!

Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie a renowned Nigerian novelist was born in Nigeria in 1977. She grew up in the university town of Nsukka, Enugu State where she attended primary and secondary schools, and briefly studied Medicine and Pharmacy. She then moved to the United States to attend college, graduating summa cum laude from Eastern Connecticut State University with a major in Communication and a minor in Political Science. She holds a Masters degree in Creative Writing from Johns Hopkins and a Masters degree in African Studies from Yale University. She was a 2005-2006 Hodder Fellow at Princeton, where she taught introductory fiction. Chimamanda is the author of Half of a Yellow Sun, which won the 2007 Orange Prize For Fiction; and Purple Hibiscus, which won the 2005 Best First Book Commonwealth Writers' Prize and the 2004 Debut Fiction Hurston/Wright Legacy Award. In 2009, her collection of short stories, The Thing around Your Neck was published. She was named one of the twenty most important fiction writers today under 40 years old by The New Yorker and was recently the guest speaker at the 2012 annual commonwealth lecture. She featured in the April 2012 edition of Time Magazine, celebrated as one of the 100 Most Influential People in the World. She currently divides her time between the United States and Nigeria.
